Mission: Mission 0: The Healy Returns
Location: Chief Engineer's Office

Ava was in her duty uniform she was actually on duty and so she carried a sidearm on her belt. She rang the chime on the Chief Engineer's Office excited to surprise him. Ava and Apaxi had known each other for years when they met he was a PO1 and her supervisor when she was a non-rate thrown in an Engineering department against her will on a tiny runabout turned into a mock ship, the USS Ajax. They later got the opportunity to serve together as part of an Emergency Management Task Force where she became a petty officer and he a warrant officer. Now she was a first class like him when they met and he had made Lieutenant Commander.

When the door opened she ran in and went around his desk and threw herself on him and hugged him tightly.

Desk chairs were not designed for people launching themselves at their occupant. Apaxi wrapped his arms around Ava's tiny waist as they both toppled over. He grunted at the uncomfortable fall, as well as the weight atop him. "Hey kiddo..." Apaxi wheezed as he struggled to get them up again, struggling and failing.

She giggled as they landed on the floor, "are you okay old man?" she asked, and then grunted when she hit the ground when he tried to lift both of them up.

"Oh, just peachy," Apaxi said out of breath. "Got myself jump tackled by the tiniest security officer in Starfleet." He wrapped his arms around her, and rolled on to his side, out of the chair. But rolling too far around squished her under him, but also allowing Apaxi to finally get up again.

"Hey! I'm tiny remember, get off," she said, making a scrunched up face.

"And still tackling me." Apaxi countered after he stood up. He bent down and pulled the diminutive woman up on her feet. "So, petty officer Capatosta, what have I've done to be tackled by a security officer...?" Apaxi's face was stoic, working it's very best to hide the amusement in his eyes.

"I was just excited to see you, that's all."

The engineer spread his arms, "Then give me a proper hug instead of a flying tackle." and gave Ava a warm smile.

She hugged him tightly burying her face against him and not letting him go.

His big arms wrapped around her in a comfortable, familiar manner. "Missed me that much?"

"More," she said, still not letting go.

"Kid, if you keep holding on any longer Nat might get jealous." Apaxi chuckled as he let her go and looked down on her blonde head.

"I don't think she'll get jealous of me," she said, rolling her eyes. Not only did she think of Apaxi as nothing more as a big brother but she also preferred women which wasn't a secret.

"Of course not, but it would be fun to have someone be all protective of me." Apaxi joked. He glanced at the chronometer on the wall. "How about we grab a cup of coffee at the mess hall?"

"That sounds wonderful," she said. "Tell me about how you're doing, what have you been up to? How much you missed me," she teased.

During their walk to the closest of the messhall Apaxi talked about his sudden rise in rank and position, his relationship with Nat and their living together now. "And now we're here." He concluded, arriving at the replicator.

"We are," she said. "And I'm so excited for you," she told him. "I wish I had as many cool things to report."

"I have one last thing to show you though." Apaxi said, rummaging in his rather voluminous pockets until he produced a small black velvet box. He clicked it open to show a silver band with an emerald set on top of it. "What do you think?"

"That you're crazy!" she said, shaking her head. "But I know how much you love her and I know you'll be happy," she said.

"I hope so. We've talked about it a few times, and I'm pretty sure she'll say yes. But even so it's scarier than the time you were hopped on drugs back on the Ajax."

"I don't really remember it," she said. "I remember how I felt after it though and I know why they say drugs are bad. I think you'll be okay, we've known each other for a while now and I still like you so she should be okay."

Apaxi chuckled, "Well, that's just Stockholm Syndrome, kid."
